Best-Ever Dhal

Paul Kiel served this on the guys' autumn kayaking weekend to rave reviews.  Find the recipe at Australia's Best Recipes.   Gary (one of the "guys") isn't a big cooked spinach lover, but he loved the dhal so this one might be a recipe to try if you are not too sure how you feel about cooked spinach.

Adaptations

Paul omitted the red capsicum (red bell pepper to us in the US).  He also added more curry powder and turmeric to taste.  Judy said they went heavy on the spinach because "we always try to get as many veggies in there as possible!"  

The Kiels serve the dhal on brown rice, but you could accompany with bread instead.

As a main dish served on brown rice, one recipe serves two people for dinner with one serving left for lunch the next day.  At a small gathering where other dishes are added, this served 5 hungry guys.
